So how is the picture on the Samsung UN46C9000? Vibrant and vivacious The picture is super color saturated and quite bright with powerful lighting while yet maintaining good saturation in the blacks. Recognizably one of the new features on the UN46CC9000 is the ability of the LED backlighting to completely turn off in certain areas, whereby increasing black depth level. Plasma TVs

Plasma High Definition TV technology consists of 100s of thousands of individual pixel cells, wherby allowing electrical pulses to stimulate natural rare gases - usually xenon and neon - which cause them to glow and then produce light. LG 42PG25 Review

This is a second tier model in LGs 2008/2009 lineup for plasma TVs. So the TV has some budget conscious constraints as our review below will point out. All 2008 LG plasma TVs claim a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and this series plasma has a native contrast of 20,000:1. The plasma has the new Fluid Motion technology which LG claims gives the effect of a 180hz refresh rate. LED TV Reviews

LED HDTVs are essentially - and for the most part - LCD televisions that use LED lights for back lighting instead of the CFL flourescent lighting traditionally used for LCD tvs. Both LCD & LED utilize the liquid crystal diode (LCD) format front panel containing the "twisting crystals" which is what actually defines LCD technology. Sony KDL-40EX710 Review

Image edges from HD content were crisp, clean and detailed. The LED backlight and intense black level seem to help images in 3 dimensional effect. Shadow detail is excellent with HD content as well. Color information was rich but no overpowering with HD content. I enjoyed the picture very much from front and center and was unable to pick up the processing problems the TV displayed in HQV testing. More...

LG 55LE5500 Review

The LE5500 has LG's new LED backlight with local dimming option. There is a control to enable on/off functionality of this option. The unit has the Clear Voice II feature for voice/dialog enhancement and LG's full Internet options. While we were not a fan of the TruMotion 240Hz feature in most circumstances, it will certainly standout for sports programming. The KDL-55XBR4 avail in October of 2010 and includes 1M:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Sony's Bravia 2 engine with 120Hz processing, and an optional colors for the speaker grill. The most important advancement though, is Sony's new Triluminous (RGB) LED backlight for this LCD television. Our post calibration contrast measurement was a fairly impressive 228 to 1. While this still is well short of many top tier plasma TVs which we've measured at 700 to 1, it is a great result for an LCD. LCD HDTV technology is basically a compilation of thin-film transistors (TFTs) which supply low voltage to liquid-crystal-filled cells located between 2 sheets of glass. When charged with an electrical boost, the crystals unwind to a precise degree to filter white light generated by a lamp positioned behind the screen. LCD monitors reproduce colors through a process of subtraction - which is to say - They block out particular color wave lengths from the spectrum of white light until they're left with the correct color. With our Blu Ray set to 720p resolution to match the TVs resolution we were very impressed at the bright sharp images and intense color offered. The TV really has a lot of pop with HD material. We also did not note the negative background judder with HD material and this proved out with our HD HQV processor testing as well. Black levels were deep and occasionally oversaturated but not often enough

Mr. R looks amazing on the LCD. Not too over saturated but just right. Where there is gray in a scene the TV is satisfied with letting the scene be gray. Colors that are meant to be subdued are displayed that way. This TV is hitting a major sweet spot in price/value offering with its many excellent
