Samsung UN46C9000 Review

Samsung UN46C9000

So how is the picture on the Samsung UN46C9000? Vibrant and vivacious The picture is super color saturated and quite bright with powerful lighting while yet maintaining good saturation in the blacks. Recognizably one of the new features on the UN46CC9000 is the ability of the LED backlighting to completely turn off in certain areas, whereby increasing black depth level. Blue tones from the LED edge lighting are a bit oversaturated in the C9000 as is overall saturation but all in all one of the best of 2010.

Samsung UN55C7000 Review

Samsung UN55C7000

With color information both dark and light appearing quite deeply saturated, the contrast effect is superb. Blacks appear inky and sometimes lose their dark shadowy detail. White the light is sometimes distractingly too bright. Contrast appears more vivid on the screen than the 191:1 post calibration ANSI checkerboard pattern contrast average that's been measured

Plasma TVs

Plasma High Definition TV technology consists of 100s of thousands of individual pixel cells, wherby allowing electrical pulses to stimulate natural rare gases - usually xenon and neon - which cause them to glow and then produce light. This light illuminates the proper balance of green, red, or blue phosphors contained in each cell to display the proper color sequence from the light provided. Each and every pixel cell is actually and fundamentally an individual microscopic florescent light bulb, receiving instruction from a software contained on the back electrostatic silicon board. Plasma HDTVs are widely known for their wide viewing angle and rich blacks & colors.

Samsung PN58C7000 3D Plasma Review

Samsung PN58C7000 3D Plasma

With both high def and standard definition programming the PN58C7000 displays an exceptionally balanced and realistic picture. Colors are not over saturated but still have plenty of pop. Black levels are excellent and dark shadow detail is very good. Viewing angles are perfect. It's simply got a great picture, and excellent Internet options. I would buy it just for the picture quality alone. More...

Panasonic TC-P54G25 3D Plasma Review

Panasonic TC-P54G25 3D Plasma

The TC-P54G25 is Panasonic's next to highest end offering for 2010. The only features lacking in this model from the highest end VT25 series is 3D capability. I does contain the new Skype enabled feature, and has THX certifications for picture calibrations and settings. So the big question with this model is how is stacks up against some of the new LCD/LED TVs as the 54" category is very rare with plasma TVs. More...

Samsung PN50C550 Plasma

Samsung is remaining consistent with it's plasma offerings and bringing back the 550 offering which was a big seller last year and great part of your home theater. We liked it last year and were looking forward to reviewing it again. Some of the features and qualitative measurements were different this year, but we still enjoyed the TV a lot. The 50PK550 is a middle tier 2010 plasma TV offering from LG that includes some nice features and calibration options while leaving off Internet connectivity, 3D compatibility and the best video processing. Samsung PN50C6500 Plasma

First we start off with an aesthetically stunning TV model in the C6500. At 1.4" depth and subtle Touch of Color looks this model looks high end through and through. It adds the Samsung Internet Applications and a few other features while forgoing the expensive 3D ready option. It falls right in the center of Samsung's plasma TV offerings for 2010/2011. LG 50PJ350 Plasma Review

LG 50PJ350 Plasma

The 50PJ350 is the lowest price and feature set offering from LG's plasma lineup for 2010. This plasma offering has a unique place in today's TV world with a resolution of 1366 X 768 or 720p or 1080i. We dont have anything against 720p since much broadcast HD TV programming likely comes through in this resolution – as long as the 720p picture quality is excellent. More...

Samsung PN50B550 Plasma Review

Panasonic Viera TC-P50S2 Plasma

Certainly Samsung has come a long way in plasma panels. I remember a time past when they were, um, well, irregular in many ways. Color coordinates were off, they were often clunky, heavy and deep not to mention unattractive. All of that has changed now. This model represents approximately the 10th generation plasma product and represents the one of the best if not the best values in the television market today. More...

Panasonic Viera TC-P46G10 Plasma Review

Panasonic Viera TC-P46G10 Plasma

This Panasonic TC-P46G10 offers an unusually bright picture for a plasma television. Black levels are somewhat compromised with normal television signals and contrast is competitive though not great for a plasma TV. Aesthetics are a highlight. I really like the thin gloss frame with bevel rounded edges. The framing bezel is just a touch over 1.5" - Great! The graduated silver bar in the bottom of the frame adds a nice 3-dimensional touch. Panasonic Viera TC-P54S1 Plasma

The picture presentation of the 54S1 is exceptionally bright for a plasma TV. Black levels are deep and strong with an HD signal input through HDMI. When we wrote our initial comments regarding the 50PX14 plasma from Panasonic in March when the units were introduced we were under the false assumption that this Panasonic model, though 720p rather than 1080p would preserve the excellent black levels for which Panasonic is known. We were wrong. The black levels are not sufficient to garner a good picture quality rating. We were right about the price coming in low. It can be found for a stunningly low price. More...

Samsung PN58A650 Plasma

Samsung is continuing with a second generation foray into the 58" plasma arena to do battle with Panasonic. This new PN650 series from Samsung is hot looking (and also creates a lot of heat while operating). It's got some very nice feature upgrades over the 550 series by Samsung while not stepping on the price too much – making it a very attractive quality/value play in this size of plasma. The features on the PN58C650 are fairly robust with increased contrast, advanced picture settings, scrolling wheel user interface adjustments, and Samsung's new Touch of Color aesthetics. More...

LG 42PG25 Review

LG 42PG25

This is a second tier model in LGs 2008/2009 lineup for plasma TVs. So the TV has some budget conscious constraints as our review below will point out. All 2008 LG plasma TVs claim a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and this series plasma has a native contrast of 20,000:1. The plasma has the new Fluid Motion technology which LG claims gives the effect of a 180hz refresh rate. It also contains some of the other common enhancements found in all of LG's new plasma lineup such as Clear Voice technology which enhances and amplifies the human voice element in programming with lots of background noise or music. LED TV Reviews

LED HDTVs are essentially - and for the most part - LCD televisions that use LED lights for back lighting instead of the CFL flourescent lighting traditionally used for LCD tvs. Both LCD & LED utilize the liquid crystal diode (LCD) format front panel containing the "twisting crystals" which is what actually defines LCD technology. Presently, LED back lighting is now changing how we view LCD television technology as the latest technology advance in High Definition Televisions.

Sony KDL-40EX710 Review

Panasonic Viera TC-P50S2 Plasma

Image edges from HD content were crisp, clean and detailed. The LED backlight and intense black level seem to help images in 3 dimensional effect. Shadow detail is excellent with HD content as well. There is nothing subdued about this LED TV, from its super thin good looks to its super saturated colors. Blacks are rich and deep and colors vibrant if not over powering at times. Our post calibration contrast measurement was a fairly impressive 228 to 1. While this still is well short of many top tier plasma TVs which we've measured at 700 to 1, it is a great result for an LCD. LCD TV Reviews & Ratings

LCD HDTV technology is basically a compilation of thin-film transistors (TFTs) which supply low voltage to liquid-crystal-filled cells located between 2 sheets of glass. When charged with an electrical boost, the crystals unwind to a precise degree to filter white light generated by a lamp positioned behind the screen. LCD monitors reproduce colors through a process of subtraction - which is to say - They block out particular color wave lengths from the spectrum of white light until they're left with the correct color. And, it is the intensity of light allowed to pass through this liquid-crystal matrix that enables LCD televisions to display images packed full of colors and gradations of color.
